Gwen Stefani is an American singer, songwriter, fashion designer and actress.
She first became famous in the 1990s, as the front woman of the band No Doubt, with whom
she went on to considerable success. Her first solo album,
Love. Angel. Music. Baby. was released in
2004,
and sold over seven million, with the third single, Hollaback Girl becoming
the first US digital
download to sell over a million copies. In total, including the records that she
recorded with No Doubt, Gwen Stefani has sold over 30 million albums.
Ever since her No Doubt days, as well as for her music, Gwen Stefani is also famous for setting fashion trends.
She has her own clothing line, L.A.M.B, and since her first solo album has
often been accompanied by four back-up dancers, generally dressed in the Japanese
"Gothic Lolita" style, known as the Harajuku Girls. Additionally,
Gwen has released other products including mobile phone charms, a camera, undergarments,
a limited edition line of dolls (inspired by the clothes of Gwen Stefani and the Harajuku Girls),
and a perfume, L.
Since 2004,
Stefani has also begun to show an interest in establishing a film career. She unsuccessfully auditioned for
Mr. & Mrs. Smith, but won her first role later that same year in
The Aviator.
